Expectations

The library is a privilege, not a right. While the library serves many roles within the school and community, it is first and foremost an academic space. Therefore, students in the library are expected to be engaged in some form of learning. The library is not a social hub, café, or lounge.

Demonstrate respect for fellow students, faculty, library property, and personal property at all times.

Sign in upon arrival, and sign out before leaving.

Library books have a borrowing period of 2 weeks. If you need more time with a book, see Ms. Pronovost for a renewal.

Food is not allowed, and drinks must be covered. Cell phones are not allowed during class time.

Computers are for academic use only. Students must abide by the Acceptable Use Policy. Scheduled classes take priority. To maintain an environment that is conducive to learning, noise should be kept to a minimum.

After one verbal warning, any student in violation of these rules will be asked to leave the library. Repeat offenses will result in loss of library privileges and disciplinary action.

The library complies with and supports standards set forth by the American Library Association, the American Association of School Librarians, and the Massachusetts School Library Association. In accordance with these standards, the school librarian holds a certified teaching position, and dually serves students as both an educator and a librarian.
