The Western Canon: The Books and School of the Ages, literary critic Harold Bloom's guide to what he considers canonical works of Western literature, was published in 1994. His stance is against what he calls the "politicization of literature." This overview of a more traditional literary canon will be on reserve in the library for you to refer to.
